What is Katie twirling? Is it attached to a rod or a string? It just seems to be floating out there and I'm trying to figure out what it's attached to and how she controls it.
I see that their band (at least from the look of the hat CJ is wearing) has a military style dress. It was the same with Boonsboro.
Ok - wait, I see now that I've blown the picture up. The bottom of the ribbon (the part not attached) is at the top of the picture. I see a little wand in Katie's hand which I believe is attached to the other end of the ribbon.
The Boonsboro uniforms were pretty much an exact copy of the USMC band's uniforms. Phil Wilkes did that deliberately. J.P. Sousa was director of the UMSC band from 1880 - 1892, and I'm pretty sure he was Wilkes's favorite composer. (I was a Baritone Horn player at Boonsboro).
